THIRD Annual TLA Breed Sale only a month away! 
 
Can you believe it!  It's only one month until our 3rd Breed Sale - and this year we have the largest line up yet of texas longhorn and longhorn cross cattle.  Some beautiful purebred bulls and females and a lovely selection of quality stock to get new breeders started with a herd of first, second and third cross cows and heifers.
 
JANUARY 2011
Date for Second Annual TLA Breed Sale announced
 

Following the success of the inaugural Texas Longhorn Australia (TLA) breed sale, the association has committed, with some excitement, to the Second Annual TLA Breed Sale. The event will be held on Sunday 12 June, 2011. 

Stock & Station Agent Sam Plevey from Rex Carter Stock & Property Pty Ltd (Gunnedah) will conduct the sale at the Gunnedah Saleyards. Bidding will start at 10.30am.

We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to enter in the sale:

  • Heifers
  • Cows (including with calves at foot and/or PTIC)
  • Bulls
  • Roping or bulldogging steers
  • Trophy steers
  • Weaners

Photographs of sale stock will be posted on the site as they are received.

TLA also plans to hold a get-together for TLA members, so we encourage all members to attend where possible.  This will also be a great opportunity for us to discuss the future direction of the TLA and the longhorn breed in Australia.

MARCH 2009
 
The crowd at the Queanbeyan Charity Rodeo on 7th March 2009 were treated to a real spectacle.  Cowboy Cattle Company (CCC) from Murrumbateman, presented five different examples of the longhorn breed as part of a presentation on animal welfare.  
 
Cory Miles, owner of CCC said "The Queanbeyan Committee is keen to educate the public that rodeo stock are specially bred and educated for these events.  We took the cows in to show people the dedication to the breeding of quality stock for the sport.  The response was incredible - so many people thought these cattle only existed in old Western movies and were amazed to see that they are actually real and live in Australia."

Upcoming Events 
12 June 2011 - put it in your diary! 
The Texas Longhorns Australia Group is having its Second Annual Texas Longhorn Breed Sale on 12 June 2011 (see news item above). 
 
The sale will be conducted in Gunnedah in Northern New South Wales.
